As a key partner of Wienerberger for the past 20 years, our CEO Matina Kiliari, George Koukas - Head of Heavy Clay Division and Paris Dalidis – Chief Engineer, attended the grand opening of the Brick Plant in Uttendorf, Upper Austria. They had the opportunity to meet in person and celebrate this milestone with Gerhard Hanke - CFO of Wienerberger, Johannes Rath - Chief Technology Officer Ceramics & Concrete, Solveig Menard-Galli - Chief Operating Officer Wienerberger Region East and Member of the Managing Board at Wienerberger AG, Gerhard Zeltner - Techniker & Rene Pesendorfer – Project Manager.
We are honored to be part of such a landmark project that will transform the future of the Heavy Clay Industry through high-end engineering leading to decarbonization. Particularly, Wienerberger designed and built the world's largest industrial electric furnace – powered by 100% green electricity, reducing CO2 emissions during production by an impressive 90%, which is equivalent to about 7,340 tons of CO2 per year!
Our contribution to this project:
- Complete customized line for setting and de-hacking blocks on a special configuration for being fired on an electrical kiln.
- Complete handling of special cars & silicone carbide slabs at kiln’s entrance and exit and all necessary positions, via specialized equipment and Automatic Guided Vehicles (AGV).
We particularly appreciated the cooperation between the engineering teams of four main companies to manage all the challenges that arose. Τhe success of the project is derived from the combined knowledge and expertise of the different companies all experts to their field:
- One joon for the electrical kiln
- SABO for integration and handling equipment
- Technoferrari for automatic guided vehicles
Of course all under the “umbrella” and the deep knowledge of Wienerberger as the leading brick manufacturer.
Thank you Wienerberger AG for your continued trust. Together, we're building a sustainable and greener future!
