The event was held on Thursday, July 11th, in Athens, by A Energy with the co-operation of the Hellenic Ministry of Environment and Energy (YPEN), scientific partner the Hellenic Society for Solid Waste Management - EEDSA and the Center for Renewable Sources and Energy Saving - KAPE.
Experts in this field presented a wide range of solutions that answer the question: "How can investments in waste-to-energy and biomethane be successful?"
Find below some of the topics on the agenda of the daily event:
1. MBT tenders, specifically those of East and West Thessaloniki, Rhodes, and Santorini.
2. Following the Conference of Regional Waste Management Associations held in Crete in June, there was a discussion about converting MBTs into RRFs, including the technical and financial challenges of this conversion.
3. Enhancing the energy utilization of residual waste in Waste to Energy (#WtE) facilities and optimizing their location and operational efficiency to divert less than 10% of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) to landfills by 2030.
4. Biomethane utilization is needed to meet waste and the National Energy and Climate Plan’s (NECP) green energy goals.
